The possible reasons for hating B*rney are as diverse as the people who have them. For some, it may be the plague of cheese radiating from the program; the horrible "songs", the eye-scorching colors, the cloying atmosphere. For others, it may be the money-hungry stance of the corporation; its aggressive merchandising, reluctance to donate their profits to such things as charities, and nerve to turn any incident (such as one in which Barney doll safety hazard nearly proved fatal) into a promotional attempt. Yet for others, the show's problems have more of a psychological side to them; the overabundance of happiness, much of it by far unrealistic, the Barney-the-Babysitter notion, and the lack of educational value. For me, it's not really "what is your reason for hating B*rny?" anymore. It's more like "what is your *favorite* reason for hating B*rny?" There are just so many to pick from. Go back to the first sentence of this essay; "The possible reasons for hating B*rney are as diverse as the people who have them." It is this diversity that I cherish in life, conicidentally a crucial element lacking from b&f. The atmosphere of the show is very inhuman right now. Never mind the fact that there is only one feeling on display out of the whole spectrum of human emotions; even if anger, love (as opposed to luv), sadness, and so forth were added to the mix, the show would still be as mechanical as it is now. Why? Because the characters feeling these emotions would have no motives for feeling them. The term "character" implies a unique being. Somebody who reacts in their own way, thinks in their own way, and feels in their own way. When was the last time these qualities were evidenced on the show? The characters seem to be nothing more than mannequins all controlled by the same hand (or paw, in this case). Here... I'll finish this up with a little haiku: Barney, he must die All else is irrelevent Can't wait 'till he croaks. [Image] Back to the Jihad page [1] [Image]
